Salam wa aleikum

....thanks for coming to read my blog.

I hope that you will enjoy keeping in touch with our lives, and that one day, you might even make the trek out to come and visit with us (**NB - VISA's upon arrival for Canadians once again!!).

Grab yourself a nice cup of tea (Make mine JTG's Blue Mountain, mixed with a hint of French Earl...but get something that suits your fancy), and let's catch up...

Getting Ready to Go to Paris

Doesn't everyone need a good quality pair of sunglasses before they go on holiday?

Gentian Violet

First of all, let me tell you that the Madonna concert truly, madly and deeply SUCKED THE BIG ONE.  It was the general consensus on Abu Dhabi Woman (the local ladies chat forum-I am Scout btw).  She came on the stage at 10:45 (over an hour after her opening act DJ quit, and the audience had been listening to the same MJ cd on repeat), and quite honestly, 90% of us could not see anything.  She appeared to have a brilliant stage set-up...but we certainly couldn't appreciate it.  Madge tried to go Tarantino the first act of her show, and it was just too much--give me sexy-naked Madonna over crazy-killer Madonna any day!...Peter and I left around 11:30 (leaving our friends Ajay, Bruce, Regina and LYDIA behind), and both felt that our fatigue the next morning was all for nothing.  I expected more, and can see why the MDNA album sales are so poor.  Thankfully we did not pay for that crappy experience.

Now, onto today.

Today I learned about just how unexpected and surprising life can be (again).

As I was still in the hazy place between sleep (a state I entered around 5 am) and waking (around 7:11) this morning, I would have never predicted that:

(a) there would be some (possibly dangerous?) winged creature making itself at home on my dining room shelf, where I display both precious objects and children's toys.

(b) Smile-ah FIVE TEETH (confirmed that number today) would pee on the sofa.

Thanks for the hat Gramma!

(c) Little A would start back up with the barfing today.

Burberry? LV?  Nooooo...
SUBWAY!
(c) N would recite the beginning of "Humpty Dumpty" (in his own language of course) while balancing precariously on the back of the sofa.

Humpty tubby
(d) Peter would leave a pen in his dress shirt pocket and I would have to use my 'emergency stain removal measures' (hairspray) to eliminate it (and also to impress the crap out of Malou).

...and all of that was before 10:30 this morning.

Smile-ah opted not to have an afternoon nap today (after 30 minutes of listening to her scream and play I gave up--YOU WIN Smile-ah!!).  Little A drank a lot of mint tea and managed to keep down the rest of her food AND have a solid poop.  I never DID find that winged creature...I sure hope it doesn't bite anybody tomorrow!

Tomorrow I need to start preparing for her birthday party (this Saturday...she is REALLY excited) and next week we will start preparing for our trip.

The coughs are still lingering around here...Peter's is THE WORST (followed second by little A).

Yo ADRIAN!

Yesterday, N discovered how to OPEN the doors.  Now, not only can he CLOSE them (with great relish and a loud SLAM!), but he can also open them.  This has prompted me to keep the outside door locked now, as he could potentially just open it and walk on out.

Today, I took A to see her dance class perform at the Officer's Club.  She was supposed to join them, but judging from the way she freezes up in her small 'in-class' performances, I decided she wasn't ready for it, and we just watched from the audience.  She really enjoyed herself, and seems excited to join next year's show.

S has had a swollen eye since Tuesday.  This morning, during breakfast, her left eye went from puffy to THIS!!
Our very own little "Rocky Balboa"

It's horrific to look at.  It even prompted little A to say (after looking at her cautiously for a bit, and getting really quiet) "Mom--YOU take her away and play with her...I don't like her when she looks like that."  I understood where she was coming from, b/c looking at THAT was what prompted me to take her for her SECOND emergency room visit of the day.

However, despite the way she looks, she has been playing happily and passing the day.  This morning (during our first E/R trip) she was a mess--but I think it had more to do with the timing (which was well past her nap time) than the experience.

Let's hope she is looking and FEELING better in the morning.  It has been a yucky day...and I look forward to a better one tomorrow.
